TPE Password Reset Notes
Expiration Update: PLEASE NOTE
- Passwords now expire every 90 days to conform to information security standards.
- Users of the TPE Admin interface will not receive password expiration warnings. We recommend setting reminders to change the TPE password at or before the 90 day expiration limit.
- A user account with an expired password will simply not be able to login and must use the forgotten password feature on the login page to reset the password.
Other Notes
- June 7, 2023 - Some users do not receive the emails from the TPE Admin Console when requesting a password reset. It has been verified that the emails are being sent and can be received by users with accounts like agency TPE users posses. Check your SPAM or Junk folders in your email client. If you do not receive an email response to your password reset request, please open a ticket with the service desk to get it manually reset. Also, speak with your email administrators to see why those emails may not be getting through. The sending address is tpe@nicusa.com.
- Passwords may be reset at any time while logged in to the application using the drop menu on the right.
- If a password is lost or forgotten, then the login name and the email address associated with the TPE account is required along with the correct answers to the three security questions that were set up at the time of account creation to recover it. In the absence of either of those, the Oregon E-Government Service Desk will need to perform the reset for you.
- Many users report not receiving emails in response to the 'Forgot your password? Click here' link and subsequent questions. It has been confirmed several times that the password reset email does send successfully and the sending address is 'tpe@nicusa.com'. Please make sure your email system allows that sender through.
- It is imperative that the email address of the TPE account holder is accurate and up to date to ensure seamless use of the self service account management features such as password resets and forgotten passwords.
The password qualifications are:
- At least 8 characters and no more than 20 characters
- At least one upper case and one lower case letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character (@ % + ! # $ ^ ? : . () {} [] ~ - _)
- No dictionary words or other common text patterns
Common text patterns includes recognizable character replacement in many cases too.
A person may not get away with M@ryP0pp1n$ as a password because its visually very close to a regular word.
