Full-Width Page Layout
The SPST 4.15.10 release comes with a new Page Layout called Full-width Page. Using this new page layout gives you the option to add full-width content (complete from the very left edge to the very right edge of the screen) to the page.
This page layout has two regular content-width sections set in between sections of full-width real estate. This allows you to alternate between full-width Images, graphics, or components and content-width text to make a homepage splashy and graphic while still allowing for content placement and navigation options with a nice left and right margin for easily legibility.
Enabling the Full-Width Page Layout
Depending on the settings within your Oregon.gov site, you might need to enable this page layout for use within your site. To do so please follow these steps:
- Log into the authoring environment of the site.
- Use the little gear icon in the upper left of the SharePoint ribbon to choose Site Settings.
- Under Look and Feel, choose Page layouts and site templates.
- Here in the middle of the page you should see the section titled Page Layouts.
- If the radio button for 'Pages in this site can only use the following layouts' is selected, this means we have to manually add this page layout to the list of accepted layouts. Please follow these steps to add it:
- In the list in the field on the left, find and select the option '(OregonPublishingPageV4_5) Full-Width Page.'
- With that options selected, click the button 'Add >' between the two fields. This will add this option to the field on the right.
- If you want all subsites to have access to this Page Layout, check the checkbox titled 'Reset all subsites to inherit these preferred layout settings' below the fields.
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the page. This will now add that page layout to those available to use on your site.
- If the radio button for 'Pages in this site can use any layout' is selected, this means the layout should be there for you to use automatically. You can switch a page to use this new layout using the directions in the next section below.
Switching to the Full-Width Page Layout
To use the page layout, it will need to be manually switched to within the page you wish to utilize it on. Please follow these instructions to switch the new page layout:
- Log into the authoring environment of the site.
- Navigate to the page in which you would like to switch the layout.
- Using the gear icon at the top right choose Edit Page.
- Now using the SharePoint ribbon go to Page > Page Layout.

(NOTE: If the layout doesn't appear in this section it might need to be enabled on your site. Please see the section here about enabling the page layout)
-
The page layout will update and once you Save using the SharePoint ribbon the page layout will be switched.
