Newsroom 2.0 Post Features
Default Post Features
These features appear by default on all post types.
- Post Title – Plain text entry
- Bold type title of the post – automatically formatted.
- Post Slug – Plain text entry
- Post slugs are typically the post title, replacing non-letters with dashes.
Eg, for title "Breaking News at 11: Man Bites Dog," slug might be "breaking-news-at-11-man-bites-dog". It can also be different from the title. “Sample Post for Documentation Purposes” might have a slug of “post-for-doc”, This does not appear in the post, but is the URL name of the post in the application.
- City in or for which the post pertains – Text entry.
- helps with searches and filters for news readers.
- State in or for which the post pertains – Drop list for selection of one.

- Primary Post Category – Drop list for the selection of one.
- Select the category most relevant to the post.
- Post Contents – Text entry
- This feature is where the article body is entered. There are two modes.
- Article – Allows normal HTML formatting. There is no ‘ribbon’ or drag and drop functionality here. If the author knows HTML, then it may be used for mark up.
- Paragraph - The only formatting allowed here is the addition of links. To add a link, select the previously entered text and click the link button. The link destination URL is added to the pop up for the link.
- This feature is where the article body is entered. There are two modes.
- Optionally publish post at (Delayed posting) – Calendar date selection tool
- Delay or schedule posting of the article to a later time and date.
- Version comments – Text entry
- Plain text only. If multiple versions or edits to a post are made, comments may help to justify or document those iterations.
Optional Post Features
These features may be added to custom post types.
- Subtitle – Plain text entry. Formatting is automatic.
- Subtext to the title. It shows up on the story feature tile and when viewing the post on its own page.
- Boilerplate – a text block that appears below the post content and is accentuated by a grey background. The Boilerplate feature has the same two modes as the Post Contents feature.
- Article – Allows normal HTML formatting. There is no ‘ribbon’ or drag and drop functionality here. If the author knows HTML then it may be used for mark up.

- Use the readability checker to help keep your writing accessible to wide target audiences. Talk to your agency communications team to find out what the target grade level is for your agencies published material.
- Featured Image – An image that can be added to a post for interest and illustration. The image is displayed as a thumbnail on the post tile and as a large version on the post page.
- The image is chosen through a selection window and then confirmed with the ‘Upload’ button.
- Additional Categories – Check box selections
- Shows as ‘Categories’ when authoring a post, this is a list of categories that the post may be relevant to. Choose as many as necessary for the post.
- Contacts – Check box selections
- Choose the contacts most appropriate for the post.
- Contacts are added by Tenant Admins.
- Tags – Text entry
- Use tags to group and enhance search results.
- Tags do not appear in the post online.
- Attachments – upload
- Multiple attachments may be uploaded and appear as simple links to documents on the post page.
- External Hyperlinks (URLs)
- Hyperlinks can be added to Video, audio or other types of resources as needed for items that may be hard to attach, or for files from shared locations.
- Override publishing date
- If an editor wants to go in and make changes to old posts and publish the changes without making the publishing date as ‘today’.
