Newsroom 2.0 Overview
Introduction
The Oregon State Newsroom is an application and website that allows the posting, by authorized users, and viewing by the public of news releases and articles published by Oregon State agencies and entities. The public view allows for the narrowing of articles by agency that published the article, and by category of the article. The public site also features filtration for top categories, determined by the use of the site and lists most popular and most recent articles posted. It also features the Google Translate feature common to Oregon agency and entity websites. The authoring site allows users of various levels to manage users, categories, post types, contacts for agencies (tenants) and settings for individual tenants. The authoring site is what this article will primarily focus on. |
Public Interface
The public face of the Oregon Newsroom offers several functionalities.
The home page includes a view of recent posts by default as well as featured posts in a column on the right side of the page. Toward the middle of the page, top categories are identified and are determined by the number of times articles assigned that category have been viewed.
Lower on the page are the most popular posts (most frequently viewed), and most recently posted articles. |
|
Each article is identified by its title of course, but additionally the post tiles include the primary category that was indicated when the post was created. The tile also includes the agency that published the post and the type of post it is. Ie.: article, release, story, etc, as was determined by the post author.
