Google Analytics 4 (GA4) - Document downloads by file and source exploration
The exploration shows which documents have been accessed and from what page over the time range selected. This can be used in conjunction with other explorations to determine if visitors are using your site and accessing information in ways you would expect. It can draw attention to places in your site where clarification or streamlining may be in order. This starter exploration is named '003-Doc Downloads : File & Source' and may be copied, then adjusted for your agency needs.

Notes
Like other explorations, the page path and query filter can be expanded to focus on one subsite at any level in the site.
Filters
Event name - Don't change this one. This is what focuses the exploration on downloads.
Host Name - standard Oregon.gov sites should have this filter set to 'Exactly Match' www.oregon.gov. Host header sites should have the correct subdomain entered such as 'Exactly Match' dfr.oregon.gov or sos.oregon.gov as is appropriate to the site.
File name - for standard Oregon.gov web sites, this should be set to reflect the agency website acronym like /das/ or /odot/. This can also be extended to filter for a longer path pattern. Be sure to include the leading and trailing slashes, they are important. For host header sites this filter can either not be used, or it can be set to filter for any sub site, library or path that is desired.
File extension filter - This filter may be added to the exploration to focus on specific file types according to their file type extension like pdf, xlsx, pptx, etc. Do not use the '.' ahead of the file extension for this filter.
