If you have trouble logging in to SharePoint:
There are a few things to keep in mind when logging in to the SharePoint authoring environment for the first time, right after a password reset or even just after a long time of non-use. The first is; your credentials were tested and resulted in a successful login at the account manager application just before they were sent to you, so they are probably not the problem.
Other things to check are:
- If you are seeing an ‘Access Denied’ error, your account is successfully logged in but does not have local access to the page you are viewing. Please talk with your SPOC about your local site access.
- Double check the URL with your agency SPOC. Logging in to the wrong site or subsite will result in a failed log in.
- Be sure you are using a backslash ‘\’ as part of your username, not a forward slash ‘/’.
- Be sure you are including the ‘or\’ as part of your username. Other prefixes such as ODOT\ or DOC\ will not work for SharePoint log in.
- some agencies enforce an agency domain login so the username field is prepopulated with the agency login. In that case, you'll need to use the 'other option' selection for login. This can look different in different browsers.
- Be sure you are using the correct case of letter in your password. SharePoint passwords are case sensitive.
- Be sure you are not using copy and paste to enter your login credentials. This will usually result in a failed login attempt.
SharePoint authoring can be performed on Widows or Mac and authors may use most recent versions of major browsers.
Managing Your Account
You can use the same credentials as above to log in the Account Manager Application. Here you are able to fill in or edit your profile information and change your password periodically.
If you forget your password this is the place to come to reestablish it.
